To give you a little background, Meryl and Jeff took a trip to China in the Spring of 2010, and what follows are a few pictures from that trip. I am including 1 to 2 pictures from each city we visited. In Beijing we visited the Forbidden City, former home of the Emperor.
One of the larger palaces within the Forbidden City.
Below is one of the walls enclosing the Forbidden City. The large door in the center was for the Emperor, and the small doors were for ministers and other lesser persons. Outside the Forbidden City is Tienanmen Square.
Meryl and Jeff walking on the Great Wall, outside of Beijing. It was a very foggy day
Xian is home to the famous terracotta soldiers. This is Pit One, the main pit showing the terracotta soldiers that have been excavated to date. You can see that the pit is enclosed, and there are two other pits with other buried soldiers (not in this photo). These soldiers were made under the direction of Qinshihuang, the first emperor of China, and the founder of the Qin Dynasty. His mausoleum was built from 247 BC to 208 BC.
Meryl and Jeff learning Tai Chi in Xian. Jeff isn't a good student. Look at his hands and legs relative to the instructors. |

City Scene in Chengdu. Lots of Motorbikes parked outside KFC |
